1. From the mobile app
- Open Flarr and go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Delete my account.
- We email a one-time code to your account address. Enter it to confirm.
The code exists so that someone with momentary access to an unlocked phone cannot delete your account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible once confirmed.
2. From the web
Sign in at flarr.co.za and go to Settings → Delete account in your dashboard. The same one-time code confirms it.
3. If you cannot sign in
You do not need access to your account to have it deleted. Email support@starlightgroupsa.co.za from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. If you no longer control that address, write from any address and tell us the account email, your display name and roughly when you signed up, and we will verify you another way before acting.
We respond within 30 days, as section 23 of POPIA requires, and in practice much sooner.
4. What is deleted
- Your profile: name, email, avatar, cover photo, bio, niches, links.
- Creator data: rate card, verification submissions and screenshots, platform connections.
- Business data: company profile, logo, campaign briefs, shortlists and private notes.
- Applications you sent or received.
- Your messages.
- Saved lists, notification preferences, and device push tokens.
Deleting your account also cancels any active Flarr subscription billed by us. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in that store as well — we cannot cancel a store subscription on your behalf, and deleting your Flarr account does not stop the store charging you. Do that first, in Apple ID settings or Google Play subscriptions.
5. What we keep, and why
A small amount of information survives deletion because the law requires it or because removing it would rewrite someone else's records:
- Invoices and payment records — kept for 5 years under South African tax legislation. These hold transaction amounts and dates, never card details.
- Messages already delivered to another person — removed from your account, but the recipient's copy of a conversation they took part in remains theirs.
- Moderation and abuse records — where we have acted on a report, we keep enough to enforce the outcome.
- Backups — deletion propagates through our backups on their normal rotation. Everything is gone within 90 days.
6. Deleting data without deleting your account
If you only want part of your information removed, you do not have to close the account. You can edit or clear your profile, rate card and photos in Settings, or ask our Information Officer to correct or delete specific information — see your rights under POPIA.
7. Contact
